Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Dr. Cheryl Travis-Johnson is Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of VRM Mortgage Services. Since joining VRM in 2008, Dr. Travis-Johnson’s leadership has distinguished VRM among clients and within the industry by successfully delivering non-traditional solutions to mitigate losses from non-performing loans. She has helped VRM become a solution provider for mortgage servicing solutions while preserving communities nationwide. She is responsible for developing and rolling out VRMU, which is one of the leading training vehicles for real estate professionals. VRMU in collaboration with the MBA developed a free Self-Assessment tool to help companies assess the strength and compliance of their diversity and inclusion initiatives. Further, as a director on the board of PCV/VRM Seeds of Hope non-profit and the founder of the Council for Inclusion in Financial Services (CIFS), Dr. Travis-Johnson leverages philanthropy to support neighborhood stabilization efforts and financial literacy nationwide. Additionally, VRM launched the Mortgage Collective to provide thought leadership platforms for key decision makers to address industry pain points.
Immediately prior to joining VRM, Dr. Travis-Johnson served as Director of REO Sales Operations for Freddie Mac, during which time she received Freddie Mac’s Premier Achievement Award on multiple occasions. Dr. Travis-Johnson held senior leadership roles in originations, branch operation, auditing, loan servicing, non-performing loans, and REO sales for some of the industry leading financial institutions.
During Dr. Travis-Johnson‘s 30-year tenure within the mortgage servicing, she has been widely recognized for providing superior client operations management and customer service, improving company efficiencies, and increasing market share despite the market chaos following the housing crisis. She actively participates in NAWRB, NAREB, MBA, NAMMBA, and AREAA.
Dr. Travis-Johnson received her BA in Administration and Legal Processes with an emphasis in Economics from Mills College, a MBA from Walden University and a Doctorate of Business Administration with a concentration in Leadership from Walden University in 2018.
