Cheryl Helms is the Vice President of Accounting for VRM Mortgage Services. Ms. Helms functions in a dual role, responsible for client-based operational accounting and billing as well as corporate financial responsibilities.
When Ms. Helms joined VRM in 2011, she led the initiative to obtain VRM’s initial SSAE 16 (Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16, Reporting on Controls at a Service Organization) audit and report (aka SAS 70). Drawing on her more than 20 years of accounting and mortgage experience, she currently manages LPS Invoice Management expense reimbursements, property tax and HOA operations, and client billing/reimbursements providing customized electronic invoicing solutions to meet client needs.
Prior to joining VRM, Ms. Helms was the Director of Accounting with Fannie Mae responsible for the accounting and reporting of Fannie Mae’s REO portfolio. She has held numerous other management positions within mortgage and financial services firms, including Hudson Advisors, CitiFinancial International, the Associates, and Citibank. Ms. Helms began her career in public accounting with Deloitte and Touché.
Ms. Helms received a Masters degree in Accountancy from the University of Oklahoma and is a Certified Public Accountant.
