President and CEO, VRM Mortgage Services
Keith D. Murray is the Founder and CEO of VRM Mortgage Services, which is a nationwide provider of mortgage-related services and solutions that help lenders, servicers, investors and government agencies become more compliant, reduce operational and reputational risk, decrease loss severity, and improve origination and servicing returns.
Mr. Murray has over 32 years of experience in real estate analysis, consultation and valuation and is a California State Licensed Real Estate Broker. Throughout his career, he has analyzed and supervised the analysis and valuation of a variety of types of real property. He has worked extensively with numerous agencies including the RTC, Veterans Administration and HUD, GSE’s, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. In the private sector, Mr. Murray has worked with a variety of Financial Institutions, Insurance Companies, Pension Funds, and Asset Managers.
Mr. Murray holds the MAI designation of the Appraisal Institute, the ASA designation of the American Society of Appraisers, and IFAS designation of the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration/Finance from California University, Northridge.
Mr. Murray is also the Founder, President and CEO of PCV Murcor. Mr. Murray founded PCV Murcor in 1981 as a local real estate appraisal company serving southern California. Since , the company has become a nationwide firm that provides a myriad of real estate services throughout the United States.
Jon D. Van Deuren, CPA, CGMA
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Jon D. Van Deuren is VRM’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer with responsibility for the management of its finance, accounting, treasury, planning and reporting functions. A member of the executive management team, Mr. Van Deuren brings 35 years of senior financial executive leadership experience to VRM. His industry expertise with private companies and SEC registrants has contributed to successfully completing capital and debt offering, debt restructuring and other corporate transactions. Prior to his current role with VRM, he was a co-founder and partner of Financial Services Advisory Partners, LLC, a professional services firm specializing in serving a broad spectrum of financial services companies across the U.S. He previously held corporate governance and senior financial executive leadership roles with Aames Investment Corporation (NYSE), Aames Financial Corporation (NYSE) and Guardian Bancorp (AMEX). Mr. Van Deuren commenced his professional career with KPMG, LLP, where he advanced to the level of partner and specialized in serving financial institutions clients before entering the private sector.
Mr. Van Deuren’s community service includes serving on the boards of several not-for-profit organizations, including The Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Foundation and as a founding member of the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation. In addition, he has also served on the curriculum advisory committees of two Southern California domiciled universities.
Mr. Van Deuren earned his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and business administration, with high honors, from California State University, Long Beach. Mr. Van Deuren’s professional memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He maintains active status as a Certified Public Accountant (California) and is a Certified Global Management Accountant.
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Cheryl Travis-Johnson is Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of VRM Mortgage Services. Since joining VRM in 2008, Ms. Travis-Johnson is responsible for developing and rolling out VRMU, which is one of the leading training vehicles for real estate professionals. She is committed to developing non-traditional services to mitigate losses associated with non-performing loans. Ms. Travis-Johnson’s leadership has distinguished VRM among clients and within the industry. She has helped VRM become the best in class with mortgage servicing solutions, without compromising its commitment to preserving communities nationwide. Further, as a director on the board of PCV/VRM Seeds of Hope non-profit, Ms. Travis-Johnson leverages philanthropy to support neighborhood stabilization efforts.
Immediately prior to joining VRM, Ms. Travis-Johnson served as Director of REO Sales Operations for Freddie Mac, during which time she received Freddie Mac’s Premier Achievement Award. Previously, Ms. Travis-Johnson held senior leadership roles in originations, branch operation, auditing, loan servicing, non-performing loans, and REO sales for such industry leaders as First Interstate Bank, World Savings and Loan, and First Deposit Corporation.
During Ms. Travis-Johnson‘s 30 year tenure within the mortgage servicing, she has been widely recognized for providing superior client operations management and customer service, improving company efficiencies, and increasing market share despite the market chaos of the last five years. She actively participates in NAREB, NHORA, MBA, AREAA, the Asset Manager Forum, California Mortgage Bankers Association and DFW REO Professionals.
Ms. Travis-Johnson received her undergraduate degree in Administration and Legal Processes with an emphasis in Economics from Mills College in Oakland, California. She received an MBA from Walden University, Minneapolis, Minnesota and is on track to receive a PhD in Applied Management and Decision Sciences from Walden.
As general counsel and Privacy Officer, Ms. Haghighi is the principal company legal officer and is responsible for oversight and leadership of all legal aspects of the business, including corporate affairs, strategic corporate initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, and other complex transactions, litigation, privacy governance and board activities including the Foundation and sustainability efforts. Prior to joining PCV Murcor, her legal career encompassed senior management positions at global institutions including Princess Cruise Lines, Ltd., Charter One Bank, NA and Nordstrom, Inc. Ms. Haghighi is a frequent lecturer before corporate boards, foundations and professional organizations around the world and she is active in and serves on the board of directors of a number of international, public policy, and not for profit organizations.
Ms. Haghighi has received many professional awards including the Los Angeles Business Journal Corporate Counsel Awards 2012, Alston & Bird Women of Distinction Award (2011), the Association of Corporate Counsel Robert Townsend Member of the Year Award (2005, over 30,000 members) and the Association of Media and Entertainment Honoree (2007).
Senior Vice President, Operations
Joe Morrow is the Senior Vice President of Operations for VRM Mortgage Services. In his current role, Mr. Morrow is responsible for the Operations performance for all clients of VRM Mortgage Services, serving as the key client liaison for all VRM Operations. He has used his 20+ years of experience in servicing and real estate to develop a program management approach to VRM Operation’s client setup, execution and eventual change management.
Mr. Morrow previously served VRM in the capacity of Vice President of Strategic Planning where he was responsible for the development, implementation and subsequent measurements of Operations performance. In that role he was also responsible for IT and Vendor Management, where he directed the launch of VRM’s proprietary valuation platform to improve overall client servicing and directed operational controls to support SSAE-16 compliance.
Prior joining VRM in 2008, Mr. Morrow was the Vice President of Saxon Mortgage Services where he was responsible for all REO operations, including identifying and orchestrating action plans to improve business processes and procedures. Previously, he was the Operations National Sales Manager for Freddie Mac, earning the Premier Achievement Award in 2007. Mr. Morrow also served as the Vice President for RAFunding and as Senior Underwriter for Conseco Finance Company (formally GreenTree Finance).
Mr. Morrow received his undergraduate degree in Business and Finance from Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, TX.
Senior Vice President, Compliance
Tiffany Fletcher is the Senior Vice President of Compliance for VRM Mortgage Services. In this role, she is responsible for mitigating financial, operational, and reputational risks to VRM and its clients. Ms. Fletcher oversees compliance, quality assurance, internal audit and vendor management to ensure the company adheres to all applicable regulations, policies and procedures while maintaining the highest levels of operational throughput.
Ms. Fletcher has developed a unique talent for balancing operational efficiencies with the highest levels of production and quality, while ensuring that risks are properly assessed and addressed. An industry visionary, her understanding of the regulatory environment and her operational expertise enable Ms. Fletcher to identify potential compliance issues before they develop, and the skill to develop processes and systems to help ensure the timely resolution and remediation of the most complex compliance challenges.
Prior to joining VRM, Ms. Fletcher served as Senior Vice President of Operations for Bank of America. Previously, Ms. Fletcher was Vice-President of REO Sales for Fannie Mae, where she spent almost 15 years in various leadership roles. Ms. Fletcher brings more than 20 years of mortgage industry experience to the company ranging from originations/underwriting to sales, operations management and servicing.
Ms. Fletcher received her Bachelor’s Business Administration degree in Marketing from the University of Houston in Houston, TX, her Master of Business Administration in Management from Amberton University in Dallas, and her Juris Doctor from Texas A&M University School of Law in Ft. Worth, TX.
Senior Vice President, Training and Human Resources
Employing over 30 years’ experience, Human Resources SVP Dr. Phyllis Wright provides strategic direction for HR and training including VRM University’s courses, certifications and leadership development. She holds a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies and, as an accomplished author, produced graduate work that is one of ProQuest’s most accessed dissertations and theses.
Dr. Wright leads VRM’s HR department and is responsible for all major HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits administration, and organization development. She also advises the senior leadership team on effective HR programs and improves the overall efficiency in the HR department.
Prior to joining VRM, Dr. Wright was the Principal Consultant on a Children’s Medical Center and Time Warner engagement. Before that, Dr. Wright was VP of Human Resources with primary responsibility for Talent and Organization Development at Baylor Health Care System. She successfully led a team of 11 HR members responsible for the design and implementation of organization development solutions that engaged, developed, and retained talent.
Dr. Wright holds an MBA in Business Management from the University of Dallas, an MS in Management and Administrative Science with emphasis in Organization Development and Change Management from the University of Texas Dallas, and a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from Dallas Baptist University.
Vice President, Operations
Brad Blancett is the Vice President of Client Operations for VRM Mortgage Services with responsibility for on-boarding and supporting VRM’s largest client, the Department of Veterans Affairs. Mr. Blancett’s responsibilities for operational efficiencies ensure that key client performance indicators, such as accuracy, turn rates and aged percentages, are aligned with corporate goals.
In his 5 year tenure with VRM, Mr. Blancett has moved from tactical asset management and disposition to shaping policy for the 450,000 assets VRM has managed in the default servicing space. He has used capacity modeling to ensure resource efficiencies and VRM’s effectiveness in meeting client requirements.
Prior to joining VRM, Mr. Blancett was owner and broker of The Blancett Group, in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. His success was based on his keen sense of right-pricing, customer service, and business development.
Mr. Blancett received his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Texas in Arlington, TX.
Vice President of Accounting / Assistant Controller
Cheryl Helms is the Vice President of Accounting for VRM Mortgage Services. Ms. Helms functions in a dual role, responsible for client-based operational accounting and billing as well as corporate financial responsibilities.
When Ms. Helms joined VRM in 2011, she led the initiative to obtain VRM’s initial SSAE 16 (Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16, Reporting on Controls at a Service Organization) audit and report (aka SAS 70). Drawing on her more than 20 years of accounting and mortgage experience, she currently manages LPS Invoice Management expense reimbursements, property tax and HOA operations, and client billing/reimbursements providing customized electronic invoicing solutions to meet client needs.
Prior to joining VRM, Ms. Helms was the Director of Accounting with Fannie Mae responsible for the accounting and reporting of Fannie Mae’s REO portfolio. She has held numerous other management positions within mortgage and financial services firms, including Hudson Advisors, CitiFinancial International, the Associates and Citibank. Ms. Helms began her career in public accounting with Deloitte and Touché.
Ms. Helms received a Masters degree in Accountancy from the University of Oklahoma and is a Certified Public Accountant.
